The MBT-1 is a mini-battery tester designed to be a simple, fast and effective diagnostic tool to check for good and bad batteries. A fixed post positive connector and a coil-cord moveable negative connector lets you check multiple batteries quickly. The four LED (A-D) gauge and corresponding information on the back of the tester give you the information necessary to determine whether a battery is good (all four lights are on) and the battery should stay in the vehicle, or bad (one light on) and the battery should be removed from the vehicle. When only 2 or 3 lights are on the battery is partially discharged and needs further analysis.
You can use this tester on any kind of 12-Volt lead-acid battery. When individual batteries are wired in series, the MBT-1 will give you an accurate reading of each battery without disconnecting. When individual batteries are wired in parallel, the MBT-1 will test both batteries together and give you an indication of whether the pair is weak relative to others tested. Parallel batteries should be disconnected to test individually.
