- Compatible Reclosers
The SEL-651R is available with a variety of control cable interfaces. These interfaces provide complete plug-and-play compatibility for a wide range of reclosers. View the table of compatible reclosers.
- Recloser Options
The ordering options for the SEL-651R provide the flexibility to support common options found in popular reclosers, including the integral LEA voltage sensors, recloser power cables, and control cables. Configure your SEL-651R for direct plug-and-play replacement of popular recloser controls from other manufacturers while adding the advanced recloser control functionality found only in the SEL-651R.
- Reclosing Control
Apply four-shot reclosing with sequence coordination, synchronism check, and voltage check. When load levels vary from phase to phase, set trip levels independently for each phase.
- Relay- and Recloser-Compatible Time-Overcurrent Protection
Apply 10 U.S. (IEEE) and IEC curves and 38 traditional curves, each customizable with time adder, vertical multiplier, and minimum response time functions to coordinate your feeder protection.
- Single-Phase Trip and Reclose
Control, trip, and reclose on a single phase in the event of a single-phase fault. Single-phase tripping maintains service to the customers on unaffected phases.
- Phase and Ground Directional Elements
Securely trip forward or reverse faults for overcurrent protection. SEL’s Best Choice Ground Element logic selects the best ground directional element for system conditions.
- Second-Harmonic Blocking
Detect transformer energization with the second-harmonic blocking elements. Use the output of the harmonic detection elements to block selected tripping elements until the inrush conditions subside.
- Six Voltage Inputs
Make better switching decisions and execute more complex Automatic Network Reconfiguration by knowing the voltage on both sides of the recloser for each phase.
- Optional LEA Inputs
Reduce costs and save space with three or six LEA inputs. Several versions of LEAs are supported, including those that are integral to popular reclosers as well as externally installed.
- Configurable Power Elements
Determine the real or reactive power flow direction and magnitude. Apply the elements at system intertie points, capacitor bank installations, and similar locations.
- Frequency and Voltage Protection
Provide advanced load shedding or network decoupling with six levels of frequency elements and four rate-of-change-of-frequency elements along with under-/overvoltage protection.
- Full-Function Clock Elements
Vary logic according to the time of year/week/day to accommodate variations in the load type for seasonal or other predictable load changes.
- Eight Settings Groups
Use the eight settings groups to easily configure multiple applications in one settings file and to fit operational situations.
- Built-In IEEE C37.118 Synchrophasors
Apply synchrophasors to improve island detection of distributed generation or for additional insight into what is happening on your distribution feeders.
