The very low profile of this scanner allows for manual inspection of pipes in restricted areas where minimal clearance space is required. Adjacent components, like other pipes, supports and structures, can be placed as close as 12 mm. The spring principle of this scanner allows installation on pipes of ordinary steel and stainless steel of different diameters. The COBRA scanner is characterized by its regular coded movement allowing precise data acquisition. It can also accommodate two phased array probes for a complete weld inspection in one pass. In the case of one-component welded pipe inspections, the scanner can be configured quickly to perform one-side inspection using a single probe.
This Olympus solution includes multi-element probes with optimized focusing on the elevation, which allow better detection of small defects on thin-walled pipes. This solution also includes low profile clogs specially designed for pipes of diameters covered by the scanner. The COBRA scanner ensures a stable, constant and powerful pressure, which allows the acquisition of good ultrasonic signals and precise coding over the entire circumference of the pipe. The complete set, light and small, is easily transported. This scanner is also water and rust proof and meets the requirements of CE standards.
