The Model 471MW Conduction to Ground Monitor has a display unit which may be either mounted on the wall about shoulder height, just outside the sensitive or hazardous area. When mounted on a wall, the unit is connected to a bare metal plate on the ground just below the wall unit. By standing on the metal plate, holding the metal handle on the wall unit and pressing the ‘TEST’ button the monitor circuit is activated and the electrical resistance is measured between the test handle and the floor plate. The unit will show a red fail light and this only changes to green if the resistance to ground is acceptable (between 0Ω and 1MΩ) and is displayed on the analogue meter. The circuit is arranged to provide fail/safe operation and a green light will only be shown if the resistance path is below 1MΩ.
