- The GTSYNC card is used to synchronize the RTDS simulation timestep to an external time reference (e.g. GPS clock) and to synchronize devices under test.
- The GTSYNC supports 1 Pulse Per Second (1PPS) over BNC coax or ST type fibre connectors, IRIG-B over BNC coax connector, as well as IEEE 1588 over RJ45 or ST fibre connectors. Synchronization of the simulation timestep to an external time reference is necessary for PMU benchmark testing and it is advantageous for IEC 61850-9-2 sampled value output.
- The GTSYNC connects to the dedicated GT port of the NovaCor chassis or of the GTWIF card in rack-based Simulators. Like the other GTIO cards, the GTSYNC is normally located on a DIN rail in the rear of the cubicle, but can also be located remotely.
