Load control switches are available that communicate over either the Gridstream advanced metering network or through a standalone gateway using cellular backhaul. These intelligent load devices allow the utility to measure the amount of available load that can be curtailed, as well as verifying load control events have occurred. In addition the switches provide sensing capabilities to detect abnormal conditions and performing automatic load shedding.
