Flexibility and interoperability in a single solution
Landis+Gyr’s Network Bridge provides the backbone for a powerful Wi-SUN certified, RF Mesh IPv6 standards-based network for remote data collection as well as for the monitoring and control of edge devices. With two standard mPCIe slots, the device can simultaneously support multiple communications technologies such as, an RF Mesh network with a cellular (LTE) backhaul. Other communications technologies are also supported with the addition of industry standard mPCIe connector based network interface cards.
Leveraging an existing DA sensor ecosystem
The Network Bridge can be configured as a collector for sensor devices. The onboard Linux processor also enables the Network Bridge to function as an edge intelligence device for use in advanced, “IoT” applications. This small, DC powered device can easily integrate new or legacy distribution automation equipment (e.g. reclosers, switches, capacitor banks, etc.) via serial or ethernet ports, into the network, to enable connectivity at every point in the distribution system. Sensor providers can leverage the capabilities of the Network Bridge to deliver IoT solutions at the edge, growing the ecosystem of devices using a single communications network.
Ready for the future
With evolving industry standards and technology advancements, utilities require a flexible, reliable and interoperable communications network solution. Landis+Gyr’s Gridstream Connect is designed to support current applications as well as future use cases that integrate distribution automation equipment, streetlight control, distributed generation, energy storage, and smart city sensing systems to drive the advancement of the grid.
